2 Samuel 10

The parallel to 1 Chronicles 19.2. The text was 70% guessed as a result of the prior chapter. There are several differences. I leave it to the diligent reader to put the texts side by side. Note the hundreds of charioteers slain in this chapter, compared to the thousands in 1 Chronicles 19.

2 Samuel 10 Fn Min Max Syll
1 And it was after such, that the king of the children of Ammon died,
and Xanun, his son, reigned in his stead.

2 And David said, I will undertake kindness with Xanun, child of Nachas, as his father had done kindness with me. And David reached out to comfort him by the hand of his servants to his father.
So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon.

3 But the chiefs of the children of Ammon said to Xanun their master, Does David glorify your father in your eyes that he sent you comforters?
Is it not in passing through, examining the city, and to survey and to overturn, that David sent his servants to you?

4 And Xanun took the servants of David and shaved half their beard, and he cut off their leggings half way up to their fundamentals,
then he sent them away.

5 And they told David, and he sent to encounter them, for the men were humiliated excessively,
and the king said, Sit in Jericho until your beards grow, then return.

6 And the children of Ammon saw that they stank in David.
And the children of Ammon sent and they hired the Aramaeans of the house of Rexob, and the Aramaeans of Tsobah, twenty thousand on foot, and the king of Makah a thousand men, and Ishtov, twelve thousand men.

or if the children of Ammon are too resolute for you, then I will go to save you.
